Conditions That May Lead to Lung Transplant

People with the following conditions may be eligible for a lung transplant at the Temple Lung Center:

  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Pulmonary hypertension
  • Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including emphysema
  • Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Sarcoidosis
  • COVID-19
  • Heart and lung conditions present at birth (congenital heart and lung conditions)
  • Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM)

Michael was a young father when he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. As his daughter Sara grew up, Michael’s health got worse. When other doctors said there was nothing they could do to help, Sara found hope, and Michael got new life at Temple. Michael has now seen Sara graduate from high school, and college, and walked her down the aisle at her wedding.
